1. Who we are

Merge PDF Online (“the site”, “we”, “us”) is an independent website operated by klzth that provides a browser-based PDF merging tool. You can reach us at [email protected].

2. Your documents

We do not collect, transmit, copy, store or process the PDF files you select. The tool is built so that all file handling happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. When you close or reload the page, the document data is discarded by your browser. There is no server-side copy, no temporary storage and no deletion schedule, because no upload ever takes place.

Because we never receive your files, we cannot access, recover, review or delete them on your behalf.

3. Data we do collect

Like most websites, we collect limited technical information automatically:

• Usage data: pages viewed, referring page, approximate time on page, and aggregate interactions such as clicks on the merge button.
• Device data: browser type and version, operating system, screen size, language and approximate location derived from your IP address (typically country or city level).
• Server logs: our hosting provider records standard request logs, including IP addresses, for security and abuse prevention. These logs are retained for a short period.

We do not knowingly collect names, postal addresses, phone numbers or card details. The site never asks for payment information: if you buy a licence, the entire transaction is handled by our payment provider on their own checkout page.

If you purchase a licence, we also handle a small amount of purchase data:

• Order confirmation: the payment provider sends us the email address you used at checkout and an order reference, so we can support you and issue refunds.
• Licence keys: the key you activate is stored in your browser's local storage. When you paste a key into the tool, it is sent to our licence server only to confirm that it is a real, unrevoked purchase.
• Support correspondence: if you email us, we keep the thread for as long as needed to resolve your question.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies may be used on this site for the following purposes:

• Essential cookies: to keep the site working correctly and to remember your privacy choices.
• Analytics cookies: to understand which pages are useful and which guides should be expanded.
• Advertising cookies: to display advertising on guide and article pages, and to limit how often you see the same advert.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking advertising cookies does not affect the PDF tool, which works entirely offline from any advertising system.

5. Third-party advertising

This site may display advertising served by third-party vendors, including Google. Those vendors may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

We may use privacy-respecting analytics to measure traffic and page performance. Analytics data is aggregated and is not linked to your documents. If analytics providers process your IP address, it is used to derive approximate location and is not combined with any document content.

Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on: legitimate interests for security, fraud prevention and basic site analytics; consent for advertising cookies and other non-essential tracking; and contract where you ask us to respond to a message you send us.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of personal data, to object to processing, to withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know and to opt out of the “sale” or sharing of personal information — we do not sell personal information.

9. Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

10. Data retention and security

Technical logs are kept only as long as needed for security and diagnostics. Because documents are processed on your device, there is no document database to breach. The site is served over HTTPS.

11. International transfers

Our hosting and advertising partners may process technical data in countries other than yours, including the United States, under appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the site changes. The “last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version.
